tall screens - am I the odd man out?
« on: March 10, 2025, 03:25:49 PM »

I ride in the rain, often. I do not like riding behind a tall screen in the rain. If my scooter has a tall screen I remove it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While the Italians seem to overwhelmingly prefer a tall screen (and a big-wheel scooter!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

But, the Spaniards rarely choose a tall screen.

While the French also seem to prefer a tall screen.

Hmm?
It rains less in Spain?
The experienced European scooter riders in wetter countries prefer to ride behind a tall screen. Yes?

Whatever.
I'm not changing to a tall screen.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

My '23 People S 150i came with a very tall screen. I thought it was great until I got caught in the rain. I cut it down 5", and now it's perfect for me. The wind buffers over the top of my helmet, and I can see over the top of the screen in the rain. Best of all worlds for me!

I bought a tall screen for my AK550, should have known better, a few year back, while my V-Strom was in shop, they gave me a Vulcan 900 as a loaner, had one of those barn door sized windscreens. Had to go to an evening zoning meeting for the owner of the dealership (reason I had special privileges of getting a loaner) on the way home, a thunderstorm, heavy rain. so much glare, ya think you got cataracts overnight

My screen is as tall as I can get it while still looking just over it. Only way I'll have it.

No you’re not the only one Stig. I far prefer what we used to term a “fly screen” over here i.e. a short screen.
Regards & ride safe,
Neil
