"If I were to buy a new motorcycle" your choice?
« on: March 25, 2025, 03:12:07 PM »
Me, Honda 300F naked, and it'd have to be a new dealer left-over,
because if it's not this Honda red it wouldn't happen!

Had a bit of a windfall of $ recently after a SS ruling was changed for govt. pensioners.
Ahh...if only I weren't 6'3" - the wheelbase on this thing is too short.

YOU?

Re CB300F Stig rear sets for a bit more knee room?

As for me, well, you know the answer to that, an X-ADV750.  But like you it'd have to be red or... red, white & blue at a pinch.  Means I'd be looking at something 3-5 years old here in the UK.

While Stig is a big guy who wants a smaller bike, I'm a little guy who dreams of a big bike! Maybe...someday...but like Stig, it would have to be red.

Or maybe a sweet German 6 cylinder?

Seems a lot of riders I know and ride with who are in their 70s either downsize to a lighter motorcycle/scooter or switch to a trike. I've thought about this more and more lately. I've considered that my next bike would be a slightly smaller scooter (150 - 300). But then, if I choose to go with a motorcycle I'd be more inclined to go with a 3 wheeled motorcycle.

Currently I am considering this one as the likely choice for me. I'd keep my AK for some time and own both and put up with the indecision about which one to take when I go anywhere.
This is the Aptera 3 wheeled motorcycle/auto-cycle.

I have not heard of the Aptera, I had opportunity once to get a ride in a Campagna T-Rex, wear your seatbelt, it was demonstrated to me what 1.3g Formula 1 rivaling cornering feels like

I've known about the T-Rex since it first was introduced many years ago. It has slightly changed since then. But still an ICE machine. That's not really a bad thing though.

Look up about the Aptera at https://aptera.us/ or in your browser or on YouTube. It is considered a sEV since it does generate enough solar energy the entire time the sun is shining, or even partly cloudy or overcast, to be significant and helpful to its range. Uses Tesla charge stations. I currently have a reservation for one.

But Hawk...!
Your days of DIY servicing would come to an end with one of these monsters!
Of course, other than an oil change every 15K - they probably need nothing doing for 100K miles!
Well, you could have fun waxing the thing for 2 days.

Hey - we all have dreams.
Me, I was showing Mike how to hang kitchen cabinets last night.
And I don't even know a Mike....

Hmmmm....in that case I'd have to go backwards and find a bike on my bucket list...a 98-01 Honda VFR800 Interceptor...fuel injected, gear driven cams and pre VVT. That would keep me busy wrenching on it, I'm sure!
