Kymco recommends the belt be replaced at 8000 km or if the width of the belt measures less than 27.9mm or 1.116 in.  New belt width is 28.9mm or 1.156in.  If you are interested in the oem belt I can do better pricing then msrp (like 190.00msrp).  I can do $125.00 plus shipping for the oem belt.

Here's a crazy idea.  What is everyone's weight?  I weigh less than 200lbs. with all my gear.  The reason I ask is that weight is a direct factor to how much horse power is need to generate cruising speed (65 mpg).  If you weigh more, that may cause excessive wear on the belt and cause an early failure.  I bought a Gates belt (not yet installed) and will end up putting it on when I hit 15,000 miles.  I got about 4,100 miles as of now.

I think that's an excellent idea. Weight combined with heat may be the answer to some belts snapping too early.
I weigh 176lbs / 80 kilos and I max out my Xciting constantly for the last 12.000 miles.

Let's hear it!

Type of riding, weight load and things like that have no impact on belt durability whatsoever.
I would attribute durability and premature snapping only to the manufacturing quality. Nothing else.

p.s. I weigh 240+ lbs, often rode with gf and baggage in excess of 440 lbs total, People's belt was changed at 15.000 kms and was still within specs, no cracks. The same with all my previous scoots. Agility's belts are changed after 12.000 kms and they are always good EXCEPT the one that snapped 5 miles after it was changed!

This particular one was bought on ebay from seller in Austria for 50 % of the regular price. It was a bike shop and the belt was leftover from somebody who ordered it but did not pick it up.

Has anyone tried the Dayco VC30940 belt? I wonder if it would be the same situation as the Gates Belt.
Here is a link to the one I found

If you look at this site, it looks like the Dayco belt is made like the OEM ones.
Here is that link.
