Scooter Problems
« on: February 02, 2011, 07:42:09 PM »
Hello All,

I bought my Super 8 150 last year (October of 2010), and I got it serviced at 200 mi and 600 mi.  Over the past month, the engine would cut out during my trips to work.  I would literally try to start it back up in the middle of the street.  The problem is basically that when i let go of the throttle, the engine cuts out.  As a temporary solution, everytime I stopped at a red light, i would need to turn the throttle a little bit just to keep it from cutting out again.

Just yesterday, as i was pulling into my driveway, the engine cut out and the lights won't even turn on.  Of course, it seems like a battery issue.  Does anyone else know what is going on?  Is this normal?  Any help would be great.

Does it still turn over?
Batteries on these things are junk and that could be the issue.
It could be your regulator/rectifier.
It should be under warranty, no?
Take it back to the shop, if you can.

And no, it is not normal.  I have a 2001 Super 8 and it starts, goes and stops with no trouble.
Make the dealer fix it.

I once had the *exact* same problem on a cheap chinese bike. Turned out the vacuum pump hose was slowing falling off, and after re-securing it the problem went away.

It could also possibly be the carburetor idle adjustment being too low, so I'd try that as well. Takes like a minute to do.
