Scooter Superstore Closed
« on: February 05, 2011, 10:24:31 PM »
I went out to the Scooter Superstore in Norcross, GA today to check out a Yager 200i. Learned that all the stores closed on Feb 1. Guy in the store told me that right now there were no Kymco dealers in Atlanta.  Said Bill at Twist n Scoot is working on it.  Only option is in Conyers.  Darn.

The guy that started the Scooter Superstore chain died last year and ever since, the family has not been able to keep the company going.  I have heard some discussion that they did not have a business plan that showed the transition of the company and who would be in charge if he died.  Well, he did and they were not able to effectively manage the transition. In addition to the company struggles, the scooter market as a whole is about half the size it was in 2008 (number of new units sold). The courts finally closed the operation.

I heard the guy was legendary in his support of scooters.

If you live north or west of Atlanta, Bartow Powersports in Cartersville is a Kymco dealer, although last time I was there they only had one Kymco on the showroom floor.

Saw this thread and info after I posted one about finding Twist n Scoot online. It would be nice if we had stable scooter stores in the Atlanta area.

Just checked Bartow Powersports and they only advertise Yamaha, Suzuki, Arctic Cat, and Kawasaki. If they are a Kymco dealer they need to show Kymco some love!

Twist n Scoot does show Kymco on their website.  Stopping by this weekend to see what they have in stock.

Are we sure all the stores have closed? ... even the ones in Florida?
