How accurate is your fuel gauge?

  Just got my new 2009 P150 this last Tuesday. It's at around 125 kilometers on the odometer right now and the fuel gauge reads just a little under half. The spec says it has a 1.8 gallon tank. So how accurate is your fuel gauge? How far do you run the gauge down before you fill?
    I can't seem to post pictures, as they are too big I guess.

Very inaccurate, just like with all other scoots.

Scoots use cheap "free-floater" type sensor that is rudimentary and grossly inaccurate. Cars and bigger bikes usually have "cylinder floater" that is much more accurate.

Get over it. ;D

My fuel gauge drops rather quickly once I go below 1/2 tank.

    Mine really drops from the 1/4 mark. It was heading towards empty and it took 1.22 (plus some Stabil for storage) to fill it. Looks like about 75 mpg.

i got this changed under warranty from my place here in SF.  they did it real fast for me and i am very happy they did.

i hated the 1/4 tank race to empty.  total BS

see if your local kymco provider can help install a new one.,

The gauge is accurate to know that you should fill up at 1/4 tank or wherever the red is on your gauge.

Just finished my first tank on my 09 P150 with 500miles on it - a former Garage Queen.  The gauge dropped like a rock at the 1/4 tank mark.   I filled as high as possible, rocked the scoot on center stand, and it took 1.3 gallons.   Hmmmm that was 160 miles since last fillup;  I doubt I'm getting 130mpg hauling my 230lbs around!

Love the acceleration of this scoot (my other ride is a Harley Heritage so was prepared for some underperformance)  and glad I got the scoot with 16" tires as it's more comfy than my wife's 12"-tire scoot for me.

On my '05 P150 the odometer reads in km, not miles.  Not sure on the '09s.  Look right above the center of the speedometer needle and see if it says "km".

That's a funny thing. In the US for a scoot to be DOT approved for sale the odemeter MUST be calibrated in MILES regardless of what the "logo" says.

I guess I must have an "illegal alien" scoot because the odometer definitely reads in kilometers!

Mine also says /km next to the odo. I have a measured mile marked in the road for State Police aircraft speed enforcement on Hwy 97. My scoot DEFINITELY reads in miles. As I said for them to be LEGALLY sold in the US they must be calibrated in miles. Your Toyota does not read in KM.

Z-man, how'd you know I have a Toyota ??? ;D  OK, I'll check it again next time I'm out.  On the plus side, if it is reading in miles, I'm getting about 115 mpg! :o
