NONSENSE THREAD?
« on: February 13, 2011, 01:28:57 AM »
B-3 B-4.   E-3 B-3 A-1 D-5   D-5 B-3 A-5   B-3 A-5 A-3 C-1   A-1 D-3 A-5   E-5 C-5 E-1   A-1 C-2 C-2   D-5 A-1 C-2 C-1 B-4 C-4 B-2   A-1 A-2 C-5 E-1 D-5?

(5 x 5)

Not familiar with this type of encryption.  I think first word is "HI".  Think E-5 C-5 E-1 is "AND".   From there, I'm lost.  Don't know what (5 x 5) means.

How about another clue, Rianna.  ;)

BTW, I got my new tire on.  Might ride a little tomorrow and hope cops don't see my expired tag.

The encryption is pretty simple really.  For each letter, the cluster goes ABCDE-1.  Each letter proceded in the alphabet advences by one number.  Each group once past 5 returns to 1 and advances the letter value by one.  It's a simple bicubit encryption algorithm similar to rot13 with a little variable added to force the reference number.  The last number is entered manually as an added bit check.

A A-1
B A-2
C A-3
D A-4
E A-5
F B-1
G B-2
H B-3
I B-4
J B-5
K C-1
L C-2
M C-3
N C-4
O C-5
P D-1
Q D-2
R D-3
S D-4
T D-5
U E-1
V E-2
W E-3
X E-4
Y E-5
Z E-6

Thus the message being: "hi. what the heck are you all talking about?"

So to answer the question Rianna: we are talking about nonsense.  8^)

This is pretty lofty stuff for a group of folks who ponder the pros and cons of 10W40 and 15W40 oil, and 10in wheels vs 12in wheels with regularity    ;D
scoots!

Ah ha!  I should have guessed the "you".  I had already sort of guessed at the "all". Then I MIGHT have figured it out.  I enjoy doing the simple cryptos in the newspaper sometimes.

Way to go, Spr0k3t.

OH, you all are so cute, and clever, and smart, and fun! I was hoping for at least one encrypted message that I would be able to understand for a change before someone posted the entire answer key for all to see, lol. And, no, I'm not so smart, the only reply I understood was the oil weights, lol.

The 5 x 5 was just a hint for a simpler visual aid in the form of a grid with the letters A-E down the left side and the numbers going across the bottom.

Ah, sorry about that... it's the logic programmer in me that wants to break encryptions with algorithms.
