How to reset 'oil service light'
« on: March 06, 2011, 01:30:37 PM »
Does anyone know how t reset the 'oil service' light on the dashboard?

There is a thread about it about a year ago, but that doesn't work.

I had to hold the button down for, seems like 5 seconds or maybe more.  Think I had to do it twice or maybe three times before light went off.  You have to mash it pretty hard.  If I remember correctly, I used a very small drift punch but think a pen or similar should work as well.

Can someone tell me which button to push to reset? Is it the oil change button on right or the raised button on the left? I did my oil change light still on. Should this button on the right be raised up like the button on the left as mine is not and I am wondering if that is a problem? Is it also normal that the oil light comes on when I shut the engine off after a ride? This is my first Kymco scoot and it is different than the other two I have owned in the past. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yep, on the right.  Yes, it is recessed so you need some kind of little tool to press it like a pen or punch.  And, yes, it's normal for oil light to come on briefly after shut off.

Did you press button while key was turned on?  That's the way to do it.  Got to hold it down till light goes off.

I think most all of the warning lights come on briefly when you first turn on the key just to show they work.

Get an air filter at your local dealer or if you don't live close to one, go on line to Stadium Yamaha.  They'll probably have to order it too so you might be waiting a couple weeks.

I looked at mine a few days ago and it was caked with dust from the dirt road I live on.  I banged it on concrete over and over and got lots out. :-)

Safe scooting!

I usually pull the little rubber plug out , underneath is a tapered conical rubber gizmo like an ice cream cone upside down, then push the end of a twist drill ( the round end not the sharp twisty end ) onto the end of the conical gizmo , this way there is no chance the rubber plug bursts and you get direct to the thing which needs pushed . I use a drill because it is  a handy size for the hole ;D

How many miles does it have on it?  The main things are the oil, air, and gearbox oil... other than that, it's the bitter maintenance stuff.
