Rider down. Caution!! some pics are graphic!
« on: March 09, 2011, 05:26:31 PM »
Layed the bike down on Monday.  Most of the damage is to my left.

Arm in a sling, scrapes, cuts...

I'm sure I have a concussion (though initial tests were negative)

no major breaks but I feel like I have a cracked rib.
Im usually on a bicycle, so for me, this thing is hauling ass!

Were you riding without shoes and gloves? So what happened? What kind of unit were you on? Gonna be ok?

I was foolishly not wearing gloves and wearing flip flops.

Hands are ok really, feet...  I cant wear shoes and flip flops are a pain...

scooter seems ok, its at the shop getting checked.  Mostly small scrapes on the plastics and a crack up near the headlight.  right brake lever bent.

Super 8 150.

Bet you can wear shoes again in 3 or 4 days.  Man, this makes me want to get a full face and some stout boots. Not to mention all the other body protection.

Hey glopez, good to hear you are ok. I remember a video you posted on a ride, you were as happy as Larry, but no shoes, gloves or helmet. Good that you were wearing a helmet this time. As Hoolander said, you will be wearing shoes in a few days, just hope your scoot is not going to be to badly damaged.

GLo - There are 2 kinds of riders.  Those that have dumped a bike and those that will. ;D  Luckily, you got that out of the way.

Any hotwash on how it happened?  Maybe some lessons the rest of us can learn from?

Glad to hear the scoot is ok!  The worst part of the abrasions is scrubbing the road bits out of em.  Luckily your back and noggin are ok - The rest will grow back.

Get well soon!

I'm kind of glad the photos didn't show up on my computer.
I hope you heal up ok.
A good reminder to wear protective gear all the time.

What happened was I was driving along a, probably 30 mph, while checking my mirrors.  looked ahead to see all the vehicles stopping because a car was slowing wayyyy down to make a turn.

I had to choose, go thru the rear glas or lay it down.  I layed it down.  I slid off to my left...

next thing I know im laying on the ground trying to get up.  Some people were already out of their cars telling me to stay down so I sat there holding myself up.

I was out long enough for them to gather... I just realized that.

Anyway, struggled up and looked to see the scooter on its side.  I went to pick it up and I realized I didn't have one of my sandles on...  found it, it was busted.

Picked up the scoot and apparently took a picture on my helmet on my scooter.  got into an ambulance and was handed my walet.  I had given it to somebody because they needed my info.

Off we went to the hospital...

CT scan set for monday... I'm still getting dizzy whenever I lay down or get up.

Sounds like you made the better decision.  A few extra seconds and it could have been so much worse!

I hope your CT comes back clean - I'd think it is normal for you to be a bit woozy for a bit after something like that.

Rest up and be well, friend

I was going to reply to an earlier post of yours but decided you probably wouldn't listen and no one wants to hear it anyway.

''70 degrees here.

took my scoot to the car wash.  plenty of long stares and a got followed by a car full of teenage girls.

all while riding in shorts, tshirt and flip flops.

suck it.

And I do hope the weather changes for you soon.  Scoots need to be ridden.''

I hope you are healing well and can help others with your experience. My brother was found in a field off a road while test riding a modded super 9 lc and it got away from him. He is still recovering and feeling pain after 7 months. His shoulder is permanently lower on one side. The helmet had a big scuff on it so it could have been much worse. Thanks for the reminder to ride safely.  :P
