electrics problem and air filter

hi my agility 50 broke down last week due to the airfilter being blocked??? where off the net can i get one plz help. also when the RAC came to fix it they tested my starter motor, which is fine the only problem now is finding where else to look

Need more detail on whats going on with your scoot. if its just the air filter those can be just washed with a mild soap and air dry good. if you have the sponge kind. if its the papper kind try takeing a vacuum to it,

ill try the air filter many thanks ive ordered some stuff that can be pre cut ill try that.##

Regarding the electric start the starter motor is working as the breakdown people did a test and it started fine just looked at the connection behind the start button ( SEEMS INTACT) but when i press the button to start theres nothing, no noise no nothing??????

Also getting a whirling sound when accelerating thought it might of been from hole in air filter but it doesnt seem to be could this be the belt

Ive also had it derestrited (so the garage tell me) and got a new cdi how else can i get a few MPH without exhausts do belts and rollers work if so are there any links to how to fit these

concerning airfilter blockage, I put some duct tape over a small re-circulation hole inside airbox
and removed plastic plug from the end of a breather tube to release crankcase pressure.

Use a fine, small brush and vacuum cleaner to clean air filter.
Do not wash it 'cause it's a paper one!!!

Electrical connections seems to be problem with agility.
I used some WD 40 and sprayed into ignition and starter button.
Worked fine after that. If you do so, wipe residue after spraying.

Sorry, but what's whirling sound?

The whirling noise has started since i got it back working from the blockage, the other day i noticed a higher pitch noise that seemed to do it as i was accelerating i thought at first this was because i had holes in my air filter so i took it out and revved without it and it is still there???

because i couldnt get my agility started (because of the blockage) and that i had no electric starter i was kicking it a lot to try get it going im just wondering if i could of damaged it??

Unfortunatly weathers to bad today so i havent had time to look

Just take your time with it take off what you know how to and check to see whats in order see if the belts ok check the wires going to starter sometimes just a good looking around and finding something small is whats wrong like a lose wire belt not tight. or something dirty.just take your time and go over it clean things.check the wires to see if they are tight and clean. good luck just dont kick it.lol  so it some love.    lol   lol

I think whirling sound have nothing to do with the air filter.
this is probably because of worn cvt rollers. Try replacing it.
It's cheap and makes better take off.

Other cause might be valves. Try adjusting valve clearence.

Both worn rollers and valves makes some sort of rattle-noise during acelleration

How many km's you have on your scooter and have you changed rollers and adjusted valves yet?

its done 5000 km so far ive not replaced anything likem that yet

my agility 50 has 5500 kms and I replaced rollers today and there was no more strange rattle sound
during acceleration, so it's a time to replace it on your's too. I put 6.5 grams

I did it myself (30 minutes job) and I'm weekend mechanic.

And you asked what can you do to make agility faster, so I guess you have fully de-restricted scoot(jet, boss drive, cdi).
Expected max speed is about 60 - 65 km/h (at least on mine). cdi is programmed for max 9000 rpm (7500 rpm restricted)
and whatever you do on your carb, exhaust, big bore, etc, will give you more power but no more speed.
For better speed place to look is your variator system(roller weights, drive/driven pulleys, clutch springs, belt and
gear ratio(most efficient in my oppinion).
But thats money pit man. I payed mine 850 eur new and I could easy spend 200-400 eur(almost half the value of the sooter) on quality variator mod. parts for 10-15 km/ speed increase.

You do the math is it worth to invest in such modifications.
I think it's better to buy 125 cc scooter (100+ km/h) with bigger chassis and invest in motorcycle drivers licence.

Don't get me wrong but that's my oppinion and my 65 km/h agility is just fine for me.

You know, when you do full de-restriction and variator mods you have better speed, but you want some more power and install
free flow air filter and bigger jet. Than you want better spark and buy iridium plug and racing high performance coil.
Than it comes to big bore and performance cylinder head with aftermarket exhaust(both quality brand parts could be very expensive)
and.........

And it's illegal !!!
Could not be driven as mopeds (50cc and 50 km/h max in my country) and needs to be registered as motorcycles and
driven with motorcycle 'A' licence.

woodcutter.....Riding some state roads, but mostly the back country town and county types where the hills and curves give plenty of fun at 30mph, and usually the few cars coming from behind at 50-60mph can pass pretty easily.....or if not I can slow down a bit for a few seconds on a straight stretch to let them go around......all seems like a pretty good idea to me.
Of course I'm not in a great hurry to go anywhere special, as I am retired.  But aside from the legal part of it, there are a couple of other things I thought about.  If I goosed it up to (say) 40-50mph, there would still be cars wanting to pass me, and seeing me as some kind of a challenge, so we are now talking 55-60mph to hang in there with the big boys.
I have been lucky so far at 30 mph not hitting any potholes or rough patches that would throw me, but I can not imagine what a 200 pound scooter would do if I did so at any faster speed.
.....And besides at 30mph I can take in the scenery, and not have to be on the lookout for the cops.

Please believe me.  This is in no way a put down.  I love all you guys and enjoy reading how you are able to get something more out of your scoots.............Cheers ;D ;D ;D

well, you're right.
I have gone a little bit off topic here!
Sorry for that  :)

Maybe it sounded like I'm trying to discourage others to do modifications
but after all I respect the fact that somebody could make a stock 50cc agility going 45+ mph.
I was quite surprised when I did cdi cut and mainly thanks to people here on this forum.

I also had problem that car drivers want to overtake me in 30 mph zone no matter how fast I'm going.
It has something to do with the fact that I'm seen as a 'lower class' traffic participiant when on two wheels.

So, I'll put an order on a new Downtown 125i soon :) but keep agility as it's a great scoot.
I live in suburban area with hills and curvy roads and combine use of these two scooters is good idea.

hi all thanks for all your info!

I started looking at the starter problem i think! its the relay as i sort of got it working (well for 3 mins) so ill test that later.

Going back to the initial problem, the whirling noise, it seems to be coming fropm ther back wheel really confused now???? plkease help

My problem with starter was that when I turn on ignition and press brake lever, starter refused to work.
Everything was ok since I pressed brake to actually start the engine.
Solved problem with WD 40. I guess you have other issue as you said.

And whirling, maybe it's whining sound??, I don't know.
A little bit of whining from the rear wheel is normal. It's being produced by transmission gears.
All GY6 have this sound.
Or it could be rear wheel bearings, but you don't have that much kms on your scooter.

130 pounds late ive found the problem.... looks like a dropped the gear oil instead of the engine oil so the back wheel eventually seized so had new rollers and belts fitted today.....gutted

could anyone put pictures on of where to drop the engine oil and the gearoil and what should i use??????

Still got a bit of a whirling sound around 20-30 mph which is annoying but he (mechanic) assures methis is ok not too much damage on the gear box
