People"S" 250 style-Italian influence?
« on: September 22, 2008, 01:25:42 AM »
I think I have heard somewhere that the People "S" model is of Italian style influence. I havn't see any Italian scooters that share any of the "S" traits-as they are usually more rounded.  The Kymco has some erect lines and a some what sharper/squarer shapes. It would be interesting to know if the design is really of Italian influence or just "internal" engineering. Which brings me to the next question- the front forks legs are in front of the axle-unlike the typical practice of over the center or behind the axle. Does this add to the "ease of turning" (kind of like the old leading link forks-acted like power steering). Anyone have any thoughts on this? The Kymco People "S" 250 certainly is very functional and maybe " function over form"  is key here- kinda like a Goldwing-everything on it works very well as opposed to being dictated by style. Some one told me my scooter looked like a Praying Mantis!-Cool!

The 'S" has knife  edge  styling like the  CTS  Cadillac..As  to  the  axel  postion its all  about head  angle..This allows  a  milder  angle (more  forgiving than  a  steep angle) ,while shorting the  Wheelbase  by  an inch or  so...makes  a big difference  on  the "P"  model  which  has a wheelbase  3" longer  and a  more  "Buick "  type  ride ..The "S" is more  snappy...The  forks are shared  as are most  of the  components.

The wheels have "Made in Italy" on them.  I'm not aware of them containing any other Italian parts.  Seems I saw Italian wheels on another bike, Burgman or Silverwing, maybe.
