First start from winter storage
« on: March 14, 2011, 12:56:39 AM »
Preping the bike for a ride to work tomorrow. Uncovered it and started it up. Its a 2008. I did nothing for the winter storage. Put the bike away in Oct with no battery tender and no stabil in the half full tank. It took about two minutes of trying to start it but it eventually did. Then I had to let it warm up for about ten full minutes before I could ride it.  After a trip tp the gas station and back I think we are good for another season. The starter was making a bad noise just before it started.  I think in the fall I will do a better job of winter prep. I have 5100km on it will no issues so far.

I'm not sure but it sounds like you were very lucky as far as the fuel is concerned. A friend of mine let his sit for about a month with no fuel additive and he ended up having the carb cleaned out. We live here in sunny Florida so we don't have to put ours away much during the winter. We (my girlfriend and I both have A125) only skipped one weekend this past winter when we didn't ride. And yes aren't those stock batteries great. My unit was manufactured in July of 08 and the battery keeps going and going and going. By the way. Where do you live? Happy scootering.

need to start ur scoot at least once a week....in winter time...inner corrosion...so drive it or store it....
FUBAR is an acronym that commonly means "f***ed up beyond all recognition/any repair".

Normally I put stabil in all my bikes. Nov-March is a no ride time here in Chicago.

I disagree with this because starting it once a week just to warm up is bad because 1)It will put moisture in the exhaust, because the scooter has not gotten hot enough just idling that moisture will stay in the exhaust and rust it.  2) The RPMs while ideling and thus not high enough to recharge the battery.

Really if you just add seafoam or fuel stabilizer to a FULL TANK (run the scooter for a bit) then park it with fresh oil and remove the battery its good to go. The exhaust stays moisture free, the battery is out and stays charged, the fuel
