Turn lights not working after battery change
« on: March 23, 2011, 04:55:23 PM »
Hey Guys first time posting was hoping for some help.

Just moved to San Francisco from Atlanta and brought my scooter (Kymco People 150 s) with us. We bought it used in Atlanta, and it always ran fine no problems, but during our move it went unused for a couple months causing the battery to die. We were able to jump the battery and drive it to our apartment. At this point all the instruments worked. The original battery was always a little flakey so we decided that since it was used and a new battery wasn't that expensive we would just get a new one. Installed the new battery and everything works like a charm, except for the turn signals. Literally turning the signals in either directions does nothing. Neither one of the 4 turn signals (Front and back) turn on, neither do the lights on the instrument panel nor does the bike make the clicking sound of having a turn signal on. The only difference was the change in battery. Is there a fuse directly associated with the turn signals, that we may have popped when installing the new battery? or is this a bigger problem? I'm considering taking it to the shop, as this is keeping me from being able to register the vehicle. Any ideas?

Thanks ahead of time

Hi,
I would check for a blown fuse. Fuses may be near the battery but not sure on the 150. If no manual you should be able to search it online or here somewhere.
How did you jump start the scoot? IF you jump started from a running auto that can possibly damage the electrical system, or at least blow a fuse. Jumping f/battery to battery is okay as long as the vehicle supplying the jump is not running. This may not be the case but I'm just throwing it out there! If its a blown fuse the fix will be a simple.
Maybe someone else on hear can better help.
Good luck!

When i had problems i checked the fuses, disconnected and then reconnected the battery and that fixed things. I also was curious and checked the turn signal relay ( it makes the clicking sound and is mounted in the instrument panel). Last thing to check is the switch. Good luck.
