I ran US129 at Deals Gap
« on: March 29, 2011, 09:16:01 PM »

US129 at Deals Gap.  I'm not sure it's the most exciting ride in the Smokies but it it is the most well known.  Actually, due to it's fame it is usuelly so crowded it's a pretty slow and boring ride.  I used to ride it a lot, back before it was crowded and everyone started to call it the Dragon.  To me, it will always be Deals Gap.  I had the opportunity to go there for a weekend recently.  I figured that being March, it might not be to crowded.  I was right.  I rode through Deals Gap 10 times as well as riding some of the surrounding roads.

Here's some pictures I took of Deals Gap:

Typical curves

My Super 8

Taking a pic while leaned over.

More of the road.

There were plenty of photograghers to document the action

The most famous of the photographer is Killboy (www.killboy.com)

I didn't get a picture of him but he got several of me.  I bought this one>

There were other riders having fun.

A couple more sport bikes before I passed them.

The view from the overlook, a favorite place to stop for a break.

Another nice view

AWESOME thread on ADVR... Great pics to boot.  I will make it one day to Deals Gap on my scoot... Car was fine, but seriously overcrowded by semis running through there.
