It's all good Blue, the help I have gotten from this forum, I could never pay it back. If I can help someone, then at least it is a step in the right direction. :)

This is the part that can get frustrating, it would be easier to say bugger it, and just go back to stock. BUT, if you want to keep at it, I think it is worth it. With scooters, you don't get much gain in miles per hour, but each two or three you do get is a big difference. Before you do a plug chop, what does your current plug look like? Is it black or a tan colour?

Yeah, just after midday here in Aus, I will be going to bed soon, night shift. When you get a look at your plug you will get an idea of where you stand and then you can make adjustments as needed.

I beleave the best thing to do on a kymco 50 is cdi box boss drive and 82 jet and stay with the stock air box. any more you might be asking for trouble later.you can only do so much. if you want faster go with the 125 scoot. even the big bore kits wear out in time. I did all the above and my top end is like 45 to 50 and that good enough for me. good luck what ever you do.

I think you got it in a nut shell Paul, your mate's scooter is faster than yours, that will not do. :)

UPDATE

i did a few plug chops today with a new plug starting off by removing the K&N air filter and putting the standard airbox back on with an 82 jet, the scoot performed terribly, sluggish slow and cudn't get passed 25 and extremely lean, i then went up in stages all the way back up to 88 which was too rich. i ended up settling with a 86 main jet with the K&N which is running perfect according to plug chops and the way it drives. my tops is still 45mph to 50mph but the acceleration bog isn't as harsh but is still there unfortunately.

i've just measured the bolt that covers the clutch and am i right in assuming i will need a 39mm socket to remove it so i can install the clutch springs and contrast spring.

Now just got to sort that ratlle noise haha

G'day Paul, that 33mm nut, I just cut a spanner out of a piece of steel. When doing plug chops, you should go with one set up, otherwise you will be chasing your own tail.

I know how you feel, I couldn't find one either, get a piece of 2/12" x 1/4" flat bar and cut a spanner, it will take about an hour, but you will always have it.
