Agility 125 Gear oil volume issue?
« on: October 05, 2008, 11:45:56 PM »
How come the user manual (page 33)  says to fill the Agility 125 wih 0.19L and the service manual (section 10, 10-5) says use 0.10 Liters when changing.

Which one is correct? If you just fill it until it comes out the fill hole are you cool?

Or is it like the People 200S where you can fill it too much and the manual is wrong? Please let me know.

See the Gear Oil thread on the second page of the General Discussion topic.  Also, you might check the outside of your gear case.  On my People 150, the correct amount is shown there.

Here is the official response from Kymco:

John,

In this case, the service manual is incorrect. The correct volume of gear
oil for this unit is .21 liters at disassembly, and .181 liters at change.
Even with the low volumes described in the service manual, the unit should
operate properly with no abnormal side effects. This is due to the
technology and exacting tolerances used in the design and production of
these parts; these systems only need a small amount of oil for lubrication
and rely very little on the oil for cooling purposes as older designs did.

Ok. So I will not fill to the edge of the hole, but it is still unclear what is the correct amount to use for Agility 125, because the total volume might be different from 150S. Does anyone have experience changing gear oil on Agility 125? Your comments would be very helpful.

shnikus,

I just changed mine on my Agility 125.....but I used a pumper to fill it up to the bottom of the fill hole. Then I noticed the Sevice Manual and Owners Manual stated different volumes. Then I saw the thread on the People 200s where the manual said to, "fill to the bottom of the fill hole" and it turned out that was a document error....so I wanted to know if the Agility manual was incorrect also like the People 200s manual.

I emailed Kymco USA and got the reply in the above post. They say to drain and fill with 0.181 Liters....period. Fill it by volume not by sight....0.181L is the correct amount.

I emailed Kymco on 6/19 and received a reply this morning stating to use 180cc of SAE90.
