Only 85mph indicated?
« on: April 24, 2011, 08:18:30 PM »
I got my oil changed to synthetic at 930 miles and I'm at 980 now.  Granted, I weigh 265 but I've heard of people getting another 5mph out of DT.  It was on a flat stretch of road with no wind to speak of in any direction. I'm not noticing any break-in at all...rides the same way the day i got it.  ???  Well Syl, silver may very well be the fastest color. :-\

Yeah.. that's low.. a friend of mine got about 88 indicated, and his GPS said 81mph..
Seems slow for a 30hp scooter.

Gotta wonder if North American emissions requirements aren't limiting it... I know some of the 50cc scooters come extremely restricted.

That is my indicated top speed with 20 hp/250 cc.

God forbid, the polar ice caps might melt if we don't choke the 50cc scooters. ::)

I've heard the engine takes a while to fully free up. I would guess every engine may be a little different and some may taqke longer than others..........

A local mag had had one with 6000km on the clock, they got 90 out of it indicated,
and GPS said 84mph.

Not bad, but not fast enough for that kinda power.
In the same review, they managed to reach the same GPS corrected speed with
the Xciting 300Ri which is "only" 23hp!

WTF?!?  ???

Btw. if the transmission ratio is short so it has top speed like 21-23 hp scoot, it should accelerate like hell from standstill.
If it does not, then it is one f'ked up scoot.
Why would somebody pay more for nothing...   >:( :( :o

Motorevija measured the acceleration at around 11 seconds to 100km/h, while the Xciting 300Ri
was clocked at 13,X seconds, and all the other 250-300 scoots in the comparo were from 13s
(X7 300ie being the fastest) to 14s.

However, there were some 'reports' that the 11,X time is actually to 120km/h, and just today
I found a guy who had a test ride on one and clocked it at 8 seconds to 100km/h, and the
dealer said it was a stock scooter (he used a cell phone GPS w/ performance software).

..but everyone thinks that the scoot has a malossi multivar installed, and most youtube clips
confirm the 8 sec time with multivar.

Just for reference, the 2007 Yamaha Majesty 400 (395cc, 34hp, a few more KGs though..)
will do 100km/h in 14 seconds, but the newer Majesty 400 is supposed to accelerate to 100
in 11 seconds.

If the DT300 can reach 100 in under 10 seconds, it's faster then the Xciting 500.

What do you say about P250S, 12.1 sec 0-100, top speed 133 indicated (measured 125).
50-100 km/h the best acceleration of all 250s.

http://www.motopuls.hr/images/stories/TESTOVI/T078/078UT_Skuteri_vel_kotaca.pdf , page 14, table on the right.

p.s Mine shows higher top :) :)

p.p.s. How did they manage to make Xciting 300 slower than P250S? It`s pure art.

I say put on the multivar 2000 and drop at least a second or two if that's what floats your boat  ;)
It sure is impressive.
I've heard that the ugly Grand Dink 250 is faster then the Piaggio 250 crowd (X8) by a rather
big margin, but never confirmed that.. and I tried the B&W 250 and was very impressed with
the engine, but only after trying the Runner 200. The B&W is faster without a doubt!

Who knows what's going on with the Xciting 300.. but it's plenty fast for it's rated power, and
we obviously can't say that for the Downtown..  :(

A bit about mid-range.

Living there, I guess you do not know what 17 % uphill looks like. ;)

This will sound incredible, but up 17 % hill I am able to overtake Beverly 250 with single driver, while I am two up... and two up in my case means +190 kg.

Quite incredible, it is very fast, just if it had a bit better quality of build...

I've just read the 250cc comparo you posted.. they mentioned that the Beverly 250 had
the transmission set up for top speed and it had the worst acceleration times so..

You'd probably like the new GT300i...
