I've just read the 250cc comparo you posted.. they mentioned that the Beverly 250 had
the transmission set up for top speed and it had the worst acceleration times so..

You'd probably like the new GT300i...

Could be, but as I said, I am drawing the line for scoots around 250 cc.
More than that and I am going for a bike.

I can understand your apprehension.  I was looking at the Suzuki Burgman, both 650 and 400. The 650 may as well be a fully fledged motorcycle.  The 400 was just shy of being a motorcycle. Both were just too heavy, even the 400 at 500lbs is a monster to move around walking it. The Downtown 300i at less than 400lbs is a breeze to walk backwards from the seat on level ground. Placing it on the center stand is effortless as well.  With the low weight crawling maneuverability is there as well.

For years I was looking to get a 150-250cc but I need something that is not too scary on the GSP here at 75 MPH. anything less and you could get run over. Also NJ state regulation is a minimum of 250cc for the GSP and the Turnpike. The DT 300i fits the bill nicely. While I only now have 50 miles on it I took a short jaunt to 65 MPH and it was hardly even breathing hard.

Around town I find I never need more than ¼ of the throttle for a brisk run. I usually only have to feather the right grip to keep up with traffic flow.

All I can say is find a dealer with one and try the size and fit for yourself. You may end up being surprised by how much of a scooter this really is……………….

I don't like posting "me too"'s, but I have to say reading this thread that I feel quite smug about mine.
I've had 93mph on the satnav, and 0-60mph at 7.8 seconds. Seems like I have an optimal machine.
As far as I know it is a stock machine, and I bought it new last year, (in fact it was the first into the UK).
However, after fifteen hundred miles odd, I can't say I've noticed any improvement over these figures due to running in.
Still, who needs it...

I would ask though, how much do you weigh? Also toyr height etc. I am 240 LBS and 5'11" so I know my size isa a detriment...........

It is good that you obviously got a good machine, but I would say that 0-60 in 7.8 is not possible.

Ah, well, it's the fact that is important, not the belief...

Would love to see a video of the fact along with what RPM's it gets too etc. If your fuel doesn't have the 10% ethenol that could be a contributing factor too. Since shipped UK bikes seem to be metric, KPH, did you do 7.8 seconds to 96 KPH?

Couldn't honestly say that it was exacty 60 mph, or 7.8 seconds for that matter.
Just something slightly less than 8 seconds on a stop watch, when hitting approximately the 100kph mark on the speedo.
Given a slight error in the clock, (around 5% on mine), the thickness of the needle and the human eye's ability to read a vibrating stop watch, we could argue the toss over splitting it, but it was there or thereabouts.
As to the the ethanol, I believe it's currently only around 5% in the UK, but not even sure what difference that makes, assuming that the petrol isn't allowed to stand and evaporate!

That's close to 50 hp 2-cyl ER-5.

I have seen Godzilla on the Internet.

That's close to 50 hp 2-cyl ER-5.

Which can also reach 60mph a lot faster with shorter gearing, but shifts
will still last the same.. and you don't loose time with that on CVT.
