I bought my super 9 used with 6000km. I have put about 2000km in the last 2 months. I was removing the mud flap and decided to give the engine a once over functions check. I noticed the oil pump lever was not moving when I advanced the throttle. After taking the rest of the body panels off I found the cable was broken about six inches from the pump.
I had no problems with the operation of the scooter. No overheating or piston seizure. Does the pump have a fail-safe? Does it go to wide open if the cable breaks? Currently I have the pump at wide open with the 6" of cable locked into the bracket.
With every other oil injection system I have worked with if the cable broke you bought a new piston. I just cant understand how i have not been stranded on the side of the road. Anyone else have this problem or know of a permanent solution. If I replace the cable it will more than likely break again.
