Changing main jet without taking carburetor out
« on: May 02, 2011, 02:41:48 AM »
Has anyone here changed their main jet without pulling out the whole carburetor out?I wanna avoid unplugging all those hoses which just adds more confusion...my Keihin carb sits right next to my stock airbox...Can I just turn carb upside to have access to main jets?Advance thanks..

Anything is possible. May I suggest if all those hoses intimidate you, you mark the hose and the carb with different color nail polish or just a marking pen if you not married. My girlfriend has about 15 different colors that I have at my disposal.

Removing the carburetor can be intimidating, but don't let that stop you.
Take a photo of the carb in place before you remove anything.  Mark the tubes with tape and label them A, B, C, etc.
Do the same for any electrical connections.  I find the throttle cable to be the biggest pain.
Take the SOB fully out and give it a good cleaning while you are at it.
You will hate trying to work with it in place.
Your back and hands will thank you...
