TANWARE, welcome to the Forum..some great people on here. By chance did you know a "Whisper" by name on here? He was on and sorta disappeared!! I am a new owner of a DT 300i.
Thanks, I am not sure about "Whisper". Glad to see another 300i owner. These are just a great scooter; my engine is far from freed up yet and so far performs admirably. I noticed on I think it was the MCO it said 29 BHP. Still plenty of power apparently, either that or it is just a classification to get it on the interstates.
48F here but had to take it out for a short run tonight to see what gets cold. The full face helmet works great but a light winter jacket with good neck protection and some good weather proof Thinsulate gloves should do for comfort.
My first night ride, the low beams seem inadequate for highway speed night time rides on a dark road. High beams were more than adequate to the task and seemed to light up enough even for interstate speeds. If you rock the switch just right you can get both low and high beams at the same time.
70+ MPG was one of the primary reasons I got the bike. I am retired so the daily money savings helps out and being greener makes me feel quite a bit better. Even my V65 Magna could only manage about 45 MPG ridden extremely easy. That and the Honda always felt like one wrong twist of the grip from demounting me.
The scooter so much more fits the style of riding I like to do and I feel much safer on it. I’ve noticed drivers in general are much more courteous than they used to be. I guess scooting and being greener is more accepted. I get tons of looks on this.
I’ve ridden by places and seen people pointing as I go by. In general people seem to admire the scoot, not like the old days of guys dreaming of sub 3 sec 0-60 but more of the “Now That’s Cool†factor from both men and women.
