Kymco Super 8 50CC 4stroke modification (need for speed)

I just purchased a Kymco super 8 50cc 4stroke from the local dealer.
They tried to upsell me to the 250cc but I didnt want to deal with registration licensing and insurance.

However, this thing is entirely too slow to be safe.
I cant get it over 32MPH

Anyone have any experience with this kit?  Is it worth while?

If so anyone have step by step instructions for the install?

I have done my research (about 2 days worth) and found that the easiest most common way to get what I want would be to disconnect the RPM limiter on the CDI
However, I have read some posts that people say doing this without any other modifications could by harmful to your scooter
Does anyone have any experience with just cutting one of the two violet/pink wires going to the CDI unit next to the battery

I have attached pictures of my bike and the wiring harness.

Any confirmation that what I am doing is correct would be much appreciated as well.

One more question, should I be waiting for the break in period before going and changing anything?
Its brand new so it only has 15 miles on it currently.

Violet and pink wire has been clipped and we are up to 37MPH so +5MPH already.

Next Im going with changing out that variator boss to a smooth one.
Anyone know where a smooth variator boss can be purchased online?
That Ebay kit doesnt appear to come with one.

Taipai scooter assassins has smooth bosses and also brand name and cheaper clone gy6 race variators too. I fitted the cheaper clone race variator to my agility 4t 50cc, changed boss, fitted 5,5g rollers, cut the cdi, put in an 82 main jet and get 50 on a good day on the flat, 50+ downhill, with better acceleration too. Much better now. Got boss direct from scooter assassin site, got variator on scooter assassin ebay site, think was about £7 for boss, £18 for variator.

Just went to change my variator boss last night and believe it or not it didnt have that shoulder, so that didnt help at all.
Going to have to try the main jet next.... Wish me luck.

Just bought a 150cc for myself and now my wife cant keep up with me.

So just a word of warning for anyone who bought a Kymco Super8 50cc 4 stroke here in the US.

The Variator boss is smooth, so there is no restriction there, also the main jet is a #82 so no restriction there either.

I purchased a K&N air filter and an 88 main jet, and I accelerate quicker, but I am still maxed out at about 35mph.... very annoying for a $1800 bike.

Any other suggestions on restrictions that may be able to be removed?

Is it 35mph on the clock or actual 35? Either way it still seems very slow for a derestricted 4 stroke. Dont know how similair my agility 50 engine is to yours but I get 48mph easy on the clock on the flat so if its the same engine, a GY6 139MB, I cant see why you dont get that.

You could try a race variator? Or check your belt isnt too short? If the belt was short you wouldnt get full speed. Cant think why it would be short but worth checking. Take it you dont have any exhaust restrictions?

I read a post earlier where someone had fitted an aircone filter and their speed reduced cos it had less surface area than the stock so it was restricting the engine. Maybe look into that if nothing else works.

Something must still be restricting you somewhere.

Yep, the belt soundr the next likely restriction, a short belt won't give full range, resulting in slower take off and lower top speed. On my ZX50 thdm original belt is 720mm long, yet I see belts advertised for it at 729 and 732mm, (both of which I have on order).

Its 35 on the tach of the scoot.
I was behind it on my 150 and it seemed to match.

I think I actually was doing about 2mph better with the stock air box, so I may try going back to that, but then my jet may be too rich #88

Is there any truth to getting the air filter further away from the carb so the air intake stays cooler?

I would go back to the stock airbox till you get it doing over 40mph, you should get at least 43-ish mph on the derestricted scooter (i think, assuming its similair weight etc to my agility). Once you get that sorted you can then try the new pod filter again and see where your at. If all else fails go back to fully stock 1st, check your speed,then change 1 thing at a time and test it after each mod to see if your gaining top end speed and how much. To only get 4-5mph extra after all derestrictions are removed just seems way wrong to me.

I run an #82 jet on my derestricted agility, stock jet was #80 and i use my stock airbox and filter.

There may be an exhaust restriction, I dont know where to check.

New problem today I tried to mark my variator to see where the belt was riding, and now it wont turn over after putting it back together.

if its like the agility theres a spindle thing that sticks out above the variator, thats for the electric starter, check yours is in the correct place and hasnt slipped out, you probably just disturbed it when you had the variator off.
