Adjust Headlight
« on: May 10, 2011, 09:46:16 PM »
Urbestfriend is having difficulty with the headlight adjustment.
Poked a hole thru the foil cover over the screw and inserted a
long straight blade screwdriver.  I cannot seem to contact any
screw head thru that hole.  Even after pushing screwdriver
3"  past the foil cover.   I have looked at Service Manual
and a Parts Diagram.  Neither are much help.   This is short
of pulling off the front cowling.

I pulled off the cover that exposes the windshield screws to remove the windshield.  There are just two screws to remove this piece.  Its the small piece above the full front fairing.  Then you will find two large screws that you can turn right or left that will adjust the headlight.  Be careful though, one screw was frozen and I busted the mechinism that adjust the headlight.  You may want to spray some wd 40 all around the screw and behing it to get the mechinism loose.

Good Luck

Thanks...Your explanation certainly does not match what the manual
illustration was.   At 17 ft.  and 32" for the target height,  I had to
double the height the headlight was set at.  Hope to try it out in the
morning  (If it's dry out).
