I don't know wether he ended up getting it or not, but I think he did post the size of the stock one. Might have to dig a bit to find it.

i looked couldn't find it word's got like 6000 posts lol but when i need it i can just measure mine dunno why i didn't think of that  ;) but i just threw some 8 gram weights into my stock variator and it magically hits 50 on flat ground now? i'm loosing a lot of low end with the heavy weights & longer belt but i'm loving keeping up with traffic and it holds an easy 42-43 on slight uphill with the wind attacking me from the front, haven't had a chance to check hills out but i'll post after work got a nice curvy hill-filled run there & back  ;D

i ran an average of 46 on my way from work and slightly faster on the way there i've lost a lot of low end but it's not enough for me to go back to 43 top speed my climbing is a little stronger if i'm already cruising but take-off from stop uphill is fairly dissapointing. i think i need some 6.5 or 7 gram rollers so i can get a happy medium but this will do until i can get my hands on a variator :)

Im sure you will feel a difference in acceleration thro the range with a race variator fitted, I know I did, my scoot runs much better since I fitted mine.

Now I just need change my contra and fly springs and im done tuning. For a while anyway at least.

thats the plan i get paid tuesday so ima order a variator & contra spring & while i've got the clutch apart i'll go ahead and try out my yellow leovince fly springs that came with my exhaust for some reason.. o well free parts are always awesome. i'm thinking about getting a variator tuning kit to find the right weight though since i jumped from 5.5 to 8 grams i want to find that perfect medium

I was running 5.5g rollers but decided to try 7.5g again today. Not happy at all now but cant be bothered changing back cos the rain just started.

I need a new clutch so I ordered that and also ordered new 1000rpm contra spring and a #85 main jet, should arrive mid week so going to try that in next weekend sincei needed the clutch anyway cos I saw I only have 2 clutch surfaces right now, the 3rd has come off somehow and is missing.

Will try with the 7.5g rollers then if no good put my 5.5g ones back in. Sure I read somewhere you can run 7-7.5g rollers using the tighter spring? Was going to go to 4.5g to try that a few weeks ago.

Once I get it perfect ill be happy, bit of a pain stripping it down all the time just now tho.

i've got electric and pneumatic impact wrenches so i've developed a system to get to my rollers within 30 seconds or so but it's still a pain tuning the transmission because once you test ride it you either have to let it cool for 15 minutes or break out the welding gloves.. and keep in mind rollers are a little hard to maneuver with gloves on lol i nearly lost one last time i tried that ;) i'm pretty sure i need a new clutch too so i'm going to order a stage6 clutch along with my variator and contra spring and of course get the set of 1000 1500 & 2000 rpm fly springs for tuning. i definitely do not like my take-off with these 8 gram rollers but it is the only way i can get it over 43 so i'm leaving them in for now. by the way a little off topic but anyone have a windshield? i'm considering getting one as it rains a lot in VA & the bugs are getting insane  >:( but i'd like to know from someone that has one the pros and cons of a windshield on a scooter ;D

well... good and bad... i just installed my naraku hs variator and i love it :) acceleration is super smooth no hikes in revs no bogging or "problem rpm's" gained about 7mph over stock; now hitting 55ish indicated(buried speedo) but i'm still getting the popping/backfiring noise once it tops out and no matter what i do it will not go any faster.. i tried both of my belts, i'm beginning to think the stock cdi has a second rev limiter or something... :( oh well i'm very happy with 55 and thrilled with acceleration don't get me wrong i just know something is not right.. next step: contra & fly springs.. ima be flyinnn

Could it be the exhaust can exit enough gasses quick enough, causing the backfire and popping?

I would be too wary of breaking my scoot if it was bad popping/backfiring when riding. Take it you checked your not running too lean?

Great its now going so fast but i guess you cant fully enjoy it till you get to the root of the problem.

that's what i've been worrying about but i've been keeping it near 50 and staying at half throttle there so i only hear the popping noise once in a while and i immediately drop the throttle.. & yes i've done plug chops wot, half throttle and 1/4 throttle all come back light tan to medium tan except when it's humid then they're a little darker so lean is not the problem, i have an aftermarket leo vince exhaust with the restrictor removed so it's definitely not that, i love the speed but i hate the popping i've blown this engine once.. i don't plan on doing it again

well it looks like the yellow clutch springs and 1000rpm contra along with the stock 728x18x39 belt and 8 gram did the trick for now. i'm hitting 55 or so indicated downhill(which is slightly scary by the way :D) and holding 50 or so on flats scoot feels very very torquey compared to before and holds speed very nicely much smoother at every speed my cltch pads are worn to almost a mirror finish though so i think i may be loosing some jump but it'll spin tires in gravel on command which is kinda fun ;D i'll give it a nice long ride tomorrow to see how it's really performing i'm sure i've still some twaeking to do but this scoot has come a long long way

Good to hear it beginning to work out, nothing more annoying than something wrong that you cant solve.

I fittd my 1000 torque spring at the weekend, just ordered a fly spring set too to try them. Want to go 1500 flys to see how that goes, may drop to 1000 flys if its too jerky off the line, cos wife uses my scoot now and again to nip to the shops etc, if its sunny.

:) After having done a round of mods on my scoot, Mrs. Sid took it for a ride around the block one night, well, she was gone about a half hour. When she came back she said "you have taken a mild nannered scooter and turned it into a blood thirsty beast. She was having fun surprising car drivers at the traffic lights. :D
