GPS for my Scooot
« on: May 27, 2011, 01:09:21 PM »
Found an open box special for a low end GPS that reads out MPH and miles traveled.  Rigged up a cheap, ugly, but effective way to mount it on my Agility 50 with the ability to detach the GPS unit itself easily after dismounting the scoot.  COnsists of bungee cord and bean bag car dash mount/stem.

Cool idea, never thought of that......hmmmmmmm....got me thinking now.

Be real cool if you could get a small tinted visor that fits an Agility and mount it under that, above your gauges?

Ive been lookin for a cheap visor on ebay I could mod to fit for ages.

How far off is your actual speed compared to your clocks using the new gps? I tried my mobile but it said I did max of 43mph when clocks showed 45, pushed it to 50/52mph on crock but still phone said max of 43mph???? I Must be getting actual 45mph-ish im sure.

Your new gps any more accurate?

At lower speeds, the scooter spedometer is 4mph faster than actual.  At higher speeds 35-42, the scooter spedometer is a good 6mph faster than actual.

I checked the GPS on two of my newer vehicles, a 2011 accord and a 2010 Murano and the GPS unit is dead on true.  So I'm going with the GPS mph.

So if my guage is roughly out the same if im showing 50-52mph I must be doing a genuine 45-46mph then, cool!

Might look into getting a cheap gps myself later. Does it just plug in? Or is it battery powered? I got gps in my car but its built in, guess yours must be rechargeable?

Looks pretty cool having sat nave on a scoot anyway, be good if you can fit a bracket or something to make it sit without bungees.

Those figures soune pretty close to my ZX50/GPS unit, 4kmh optimistic @ 50 indicated, 10 opt. @ 70 ind. and gps 92 shows way off the gauge on the speedo. Might be uniform across the kymco range.
