I don't know about "new", they're, what, 4 years old as a model worldwide.
I would have thought that that would have been long enough these days for it to bed in, and in any case the machanical bits and pireces are all standard. There was a fault on mine on day one, and by the end of day three they had sources the parts, fitted them and delivered it back to my home.
But I take your point regarding the tupperware.
I did quite a bit or research when I got mine and only bought it becuase support was pretty good locally.
My first choice, (after the obvious Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki offereings), was Piaggio XEVO400, but alas crap support in the county, (Frazers - Gloucester, steer well clear...).
From what I've heard about Italian electrics I'm still glad I went the way that I did, even if I did lose 3 horsepower.

When I say new I really meant still in production and scheduled for the next model year. This means parts are still stocked and in production. Once there is a major change then we could become the older non current production model.

I ahd heard Kymco's were of a good reliabilty and didn't hear any major prts horror stories and this is what made it a contender for me. The high MPG and performance within a range I wanted was the deciding factors. I still have no regrets either but it is human nature to want just that little bit more..................

I can feel for you, I waited for 2 months for mine and was totally put off by my local dealer. I don't care if it was he or Kymco Canada but I will not purchase from him again.

I got lucky as it was on the showroom floor. Actually it was a good thing because if it were not I would have probably ended up buying something else...............

4 months is unreasonable.
I would be very tempted to cancel the order.

When I bought mine, I was given a specific date that it would be in the country, (about 6 weeks hence).
"Give me a couple of days for build", he said, "and you'll have it October the 9th".
He was a couple of days late, but that was all, which didn't displease me.

However, it did break down within 10 miles on the way home!

The back brake seized solid. It turned out to be a missing port in the master cyclinder, which he fixed the following day.
After that - no problems so far...

I bet that was a bit scary Spike. Was thsi the dealers fault or the manufacture. Good job it happened whilst running in. I have had mine 10 days now and love it. In the manual it says it has ABS is this true? I cant say I have noticed. I meant to have a look to see if there was a warning light on the speedo dial.

It was a manufacturing fault. they even replaced the cyclinder again completely at the first service just to make sure.
I asked them to check out the pads on the back wheel too, just in case the overheating had done some damage, but apparently it was OK.

As to ABS Frankie, no, you ain't got it.
I thought for one moment that they had slipped up and sent me an ABS model when I spotted the serrated disk on the front, but when I checked this out, it turned out to be the speedo sensor. To be honest, I don't think the brakes are grippy enough to lock the wheels at any sort of speed anyway! It's never locked on me anyway.

I was lead to believe that we do have tyre pressure management though, but I'm beginning to doubt that too.

No TPM unfortunately. The ABS is not so much for the dry but when it is wet out or oil slicks etc. Wouldn't want to be doing 55 MPH or close to hydroplaning speed and have the front lock up either.

It doesn't bother me.
I've been riding bikes of one sort or another for 40 years and never had ABS so don't miss it.
I'm told that it's not much cop, except in a straight line anyway, and that's usually when you don't need it.
As to the TPM - a swift kick in the rear end is as good a way as any to tell whether the air's about right, if you haven't npoticed a bit of instability already.
