Slide the inner cable out to see if it is broken. Have you noticed any unusual noises recently?
ZX50, 47mm cyl. kit, TZR50 CDI. Michelin Pilot Sport tyres,
Next performance mod; pumping the tyres up.

I had simmilar problem, except mine was stuck at 20 km/h
My dealer solved the problem by re-routing cable around steering column(moved it a little bit right when looked in front view)
'cause it was tight and pressing needle against tacho.
You need to remove complete front mask with head light to do this job

If this doesn't solve your problem, other cause might be
broken cable or dead speedometer

Yeah, the cable has broken at the end of the wheel, where it joins to the fork-style thing at the end... Anyone know where I can get a new one in the UK?

Mines a bit like this ive had a new clock fitted and the spedo sometimes reads in mph and sometimes in km its still restricted and its quite funny when it says im doing 50mph even tho im actually doing 31 or 32mph
