I have been considering buying a Downtown 300, especially after seeing one parked on the street in Annapolis last night. I have a Agility 50 which I use to get around town, other than that I've alway been a motorcycle person. I've owned many cycles up to 1000 cc. In my mind I'm trying to do a comparison of the acceleration of a Downtown 300 compared to a 300 cc motorcyle. I've not been able to find any reviews listing the typical 0 - 60 mph time for a Downtown 300. I love the rush that comes with a motorcyces's acceleration so I don't thing I'd be happy with something that couldn't beat your typical car in a streetlight to streetlight race. So does anyone have the data I'm looking for?

Someone on the dt300i area was talking about 0 to 60 time. Not sure were it is but I know mine is quick. I think TANWare has been running a bit quicker than I have but running 70-75 miles an hour and still enough to pass. Mine is just loosening up now as I have just turned 2200K.

I have never timed it, I can tell you that I've seen postings of apr 7.5 seconds 0-60. So no it is not an off the line rocket, it will not trounce the typical muscle car but just about any family V6 sedan. You can get in the rangs of 6 seconds flat with mods to the variator, clutch, air filter, muffler and ECU but this still is not a muscle car blaster and it never will be.

A thing about 0-60 is also there is 0-20 in there. Being a bike it will take most family V6 sedans off the line. So even though the car may get to 60 as fast as you, you are ahead at that time from the early lead. Now after 60 at some point that family sedan is going to overtake you though.

A 300cc crotch rocket type will blow the scooter away, no ifs, ands or buts about it. That is not what these bikes are about. They are a compromise but a pretty good one..................

Edit; a video of mine, the uphill at 45 and above killed accelleration, it was level to that point then a 3-4 degree uphill. I up uploading another video too  but again an uphill acceleration. Also uploading two night time videos of the stock headlights and the LED tail and turn signals, htey are buffereing all now............

300 cc motorcycle will have roughly the same performance like 300 cc scooter. One should account for factors like transmission ratio and final drive difference, weight difference and slightly higher loss in CVT transmission compared to sequential gearbox in motorcycles. OTOH, 300 cc motorcycle will need at least one, maybe two gear shifts to reach 100 km/h while scooter will need none.

There is nothing magical about "crotch rocket type", compared to scooter. It is all about engine power, transmission ratios and mentioned factors.

Regarding acceleration, 0-100 km/h of 250-300 cc scooter (Downtown does 0-100 km/h in 11 sec), or motorcycle, for that matter, can be compared to 0-100 km/h acceleration of 1.4-1.6/100-120 hp naturally aspirated sedan car like VW Golf. It is more than adequate for most city driving purposes, but if you had 1000 cc bikes in the past, I would not exactly call it lightning fast, so don't expect too much. If you are looking for thrills, you should skip scooters altogether (except maybe Gilera GP800) and everything below at least 80 hp, and all that if you are a novice rider, which, it seems, you are not. But you already know that.

I was just short of 11 sec but would have been more like 10 but again the 45-60 was done going up hill about 3 degrees. Now also remember I am 242LBS, another handicap too............

I just ordered the 20x12 14 gram Dr Pulley sliders. Not sure if I will have them installed but this way I have them.................
