We've received a plethora of e-mail inquiring why the rally distance was increased from 311 to 375 miles, and the start changed from Baker to Barstow, CA. The answer is simple. We want to attract more SoCal riders:

Starbucks www.starbucks.com - 1620 E. Main Street, Barstow - (760) 255-1604
Starbucks - www.starbucks.com - 2854 Lenwood Road, Barstow -(760) 253-2549

Thus far we have riders coming from Illinois, Georgia, Arizona, and CA.

Wrong direction, but great pix of Old Trona Rd., between Trona and Red Mountain, CA: http://www.flickr.com/photos/matthigh/1831381353/#in/photostream/

My Drama at Hell's Loop ~ X-Treme Endurance
« Reply #5 on: November 26, 2011, 02:19:12 PM »
Fuel: First 3 gallons, VP Racing Fuel 102 Octane; remaining fuel Shell and Chevron 91 Octane per availability.

Oil: Maxima 927 Racing Castor mixed precisely at 32:1. I was never worried about engine seizure based on my use of this oil and mixture!

Tires: Pirelli SL36 (Front: 39 psi / Rear: 41 psi)

Contunuous Open Road RPM operating range: 8,400 to 10,000

Total Operating period: 9 hours. 17 minutes.

Total Distance Traveled: 424 miles. I had to divert to Panamint Springs and Ridgecrest, CA in search of fuel, adding 49.2 miles to my overall distance traveled.

Average Race Speed (including 5 fuel stops): 45.67 mph / 73.50 kph
(Fuel purchased in Baker, Shoshone, Furnace Creek, Panamint Springs and Ridgecrest)

Simply AWESOME!!! Congrats Bro! Is there a roster of entrants anywhere? I'd like to see what you were up against.
Being in the 125cc class must have been a hurdle in itself.

I finished Hell's Loop T.T. on my 175.8cc Gilera, with no less than 5 gas/pit stops, in 6 hours, 30 minutes for an average speed of 57.69 miles-per-hour. This was done with no right hip or knee joints, altitude changes from 4900 feet to below sea level, and white-lining more than 60 miles of traffic from Baker to Barstow -- at the ripe old age of 64.

Theft Problem at Hell's Loop T.T. 2012

What kind of an asshole would steal a scooter racer's auxiliary fuel system a few hours before a race? I guess the solution to theft problems is an alarm system -- and a weapon capable of inflicting death, or great bodily injury!
