well as most of you know i've been having a top speed problem that i just couldn't find a fix for, i hadn't posted about it but i was having a slight amount of trouble with idle when the scoot was warmed up then parked for a few minutes then started again (it would not idle i had to keep the throttle on or it would die) the scoot also felt like it had more power but wouldn't deliver it.. well as i was sitting on my scoot taking a smoke i got this idea to clean my air filter, i then removed my air filter to find that when i fabricated my homemade cold air intake fashioned from the original tubing that went from the airbox to the carb i overlooked a restrictive O-ring type protrusion inside the tubing, i thought "well this looks like something i should get rid of" so out came the razor blades
i didn't even clean the air filter just blew it out with the air compressor then reinstalled the filter and off i went.. i was nearly thrown into the seatback on take-off my throttle response improved by at least 25% and my speedometer hit the white tenths marker on the odomether going down my favorite hill with absolutely no popping at all
sorry for the long post but i was too excited to keep it to myself
lesson learned: take your time, the smallest things can make a huge difference in these scoots
