I am happy with mine as it is for now. Just put on the Givi wind shield so waiting to see how much the milage goes up. The big wind shield on my 125 made quit a difference. I fulled after I put it on so will see in a couple of days. My big thing now is a second set of hid in the hi beams. Ordered bulbs today and will take the balests off the 125 to test.

Let me know what your thoughts are on that windshield, I'm seriously considering it since I'm on the highway quite a bit.

Yesterday I got caught in a torential down pour with the stock sheild for 45 minutes. At 10 MPH the stock body work and sheild were useless, the traffic backed up and that was all I could do. Once off the parkway at 35+ mph the coverage was pretty good, not perfect but tolerable. When I first hit normal rain levels at 75 MPH only my helmet was getting nailed and that was blowing right off.

I imagine the GIVI gives even better protection at speed. At low speed I think any shield is about useless. With the sever rain I could feel the gloves still being hit on occasion with the stock sheild hopefully the GIVI would stop or lower the occurance.

I was the one fool on a bike still able to ride. all other bikes hid under a bridge. Even a couple of full dress bikes were stopped and alot of cars had to pull over and stop as they couldn't see from the rain. I had no visability issues what so ever.

I will say though without rain gear I got pretty wet. Once I do get proper rain gear I would have nno issue with the rain except one. While I hit the rain at 75 MPH the bike felt stable even in the high winds gusting all over at 40+ MPH but I was not comfortable risking it at that speed. I pulled to he right lane backing down to 55 MPH and the bike felt better planted.................

Did you get any sort of fittings or collars with the screen?

What did you think of the fit of the lower mounting bracket?

I had read about this so I had 4 small O rings available. Put 2 on each stub and then put the screws in. Easy and nice and tight. Coated it with furniture polish today to help get the rain off faster. BTW do not use rainX on it as it will turn yellow.

Well that's some consolation - I usually get the faulty kit if there is one!

So basically, although we used our "engineering skills" to overcome the problem, it could be said that the Givi D294ST is NOT actually a complete kit?

Thanks for the tip about rainX - worth knowing - I have been using a good quality non abrasive car polish on the painted panels and screen so I hope that does not make it change colour.

Well, just went through my first "Complete" fuel up and got 68.8 Miles to the gallon! That's pretty good considering it's not completely broke in.  I'm hoping that after break-in and change of oil/plugs that the number will improve.

Not sure how the GIVI windscreen will affect things but I'll probably upgrade this fall. Not going to look into a top box as of yet since My cooler and 2 bungie cords seem to be working out well.

The Givi windshield is larger and will cut into the MPG a bit. The protection should be awesome. just remember it is slightly over 6" taller so if too high you may want to cut it down a bit and this too could restore some of the MPG.

I am torn between the better size ratio of the V46 and the capacity of the E55. If I could make up my mind I'd have ordered by now. The extra capacity of a topcase would make shopping much more practical on the bike.

Great to hear about the good MPG, I am averaging as you can see below. This may drop as I am going to try out the 20x12 14 gram DR Pulley rollers soon. If not satisfied with the MPG I may then try 20x12 16 gram DR Pulley sliders instead of going back to stock.
