Yesterday I got caught in a torential down pour with the stock sheild for 45 minutes. At 10 MPH the stock body work and sheild were useless, the traffic backed up and that was all I could do. Once off the parkway at 35+ mph the coverage was pretty good, not perfect but tolerable. When I first hit normal rain levels at 75 MPH only my helmet was getting nailed and that was blowing right off.
I imagine the GIVI gives even better protection at speed. At low speed I think any shield is about useless. With the sever rain I could feel the gloves still being hit on occasion with the stock sheild hopefully the GIVI would stop or lower the occurance.
I was the one fool on a bike still able to ride. all other bikes hid under a bridge. Even a couple of full dress bikes were stopped and alot of cars had to pull over and stop as they couldn't see from the rain. I had no visability issues what so ever.
I will say though without rain gear I got pretty wet. Once I do get proper rain gear I would have nno issue with the rain except one. While I hit the rain at 75 MPH the bike felt stable even in the high winds gusting all over at 40+ MPH but I was not comfortable risking it at that speed. I pulled to he right lane backing down to 55 MPH and the bike felt better planted.................
