Warning Kymco difficult to find parts
« on: June 27, 2011, 10:01:58 PM »
2010 Super 8 3600 miles ran good then suddenly quit leaving me stranded.

Once at dealer told it needs a stator.......part not able to be found.

So I called kymco usa and they wont talk to owners........

Warning if your considering buying Kymco.

ya you are right they dont back up there parts or service. if you need to use your scoot find a small deep cycle battery and hook it up to it I did that for a while and worked good. just keep a good charge on it . I drove my scoot around for 3 hours a day like that befor chargeing again.

Freerider, you should get one online? Maybe try ebay, or search google for bike breakers near you or who will post to you?

Only thing is it maybe 2nd hand part but will be much cheaper.
Chaos is my co-pilot.

I called and emailed Kymco USA about the lack of parts, and I received a phone call and an email.

I simply told them that my dealer was frustrated about the inability to get parts, and how was Kymco expecting to get good reviews with this happening. I think you just have to lay it out on the line!

My parts problem has been resolved  ;D

There is a great seller on Ebay that I have found called daywot. He knows scooters well, and will not sell it to you if it doesnt fit your bike. He is one of the honest ones out there. Ships from Hawaii, but it is only taking 3 days to get from there to Rhode Island. Patrick at Daywot seems to be a wealth of info.

Jenny , I understood from freerider's original post that he needs a stator for a 2010 super 8 150 .

Shes just trolling to drum up some business. All dealers have access to what parts are available. If its not available to his dealer, she can't get it either. If she was giving a discount it would be different but she is selling retail. You can get that at many internet dealers.

A strong email to Kymco USA is needed. And they do answer emails.

Kymco USA is crap for parts and service.
The dealer where you buy is normally not much of a help either because they are too busy selling motorcyles.

Some great reputable online vendors incude:
scooterdynasty
enviromoto
provoscooters
tapai scooter assasins
partsforscooters
EBAY:
scrappydogscooters (talk to MO)
daywot

I have bought from them all and enjoyed talking or emailing everyone of them, very helpful and friendly.
Shipping from tapai is a little slow thru no fault of their own.

Very different experience with KYMCO Canada. Parts always seem to be available. Note that its normal that manufacturers don't talk to customers directly, its probably part of the contracts they have with dealerships, both sides have certain obligations and a manufacturer could obviously undercut their dealers, which wouldn't be right and would mean a lot of dealerships would be closing, so it's actually a good thing they didn't sell to you directly.

Call up the next closest dealer or whoever you bought the bike from.

The local Honda dealer here sells Kymcos as well. They have good service and are great about getting parts. I can't complain at all.

I like using enviromoto but he might not be able to stock all parts that all kymcos need...

He has a nice polini variator I have been debating with myself about for the last month.
$85.00 shipped... seems like a great price, but not sure of the gain I will get.
95mm face width instead of 88.9 so that has to count for something, right?

You need to make sure it doesnt foul your crankcase or interfere with your electric start Mech ( the spindle thing, i know it has a name i just cant remember it)

Also you may need a longer belt too or you may not ride to  the top of the variator so wont gain any speed.

if it does fit and you get it to work out beltwise then you should gain something.
Chaos is my co-pilot.
