One of the major complaints about the connie I had before my x500 was its mushy front end. One solution was to put a heavier fork oil in  . I was wondering if that could be done on the x500? Has anyone tried this? Would it work?

Using a heavier fork oil in a non-adjustable fork is a good way to increase the damping on any fork.  I haven't opened up the forks - but if you want to add some preload to the springs you can probably find a washer that will fit on top of the springs and inside the cap.   If you find som air fork caps that fit - then let us know.  That's a cheap and effective upgrade.

Yes, but only marginally.
Scooters have so bad suspension and handling that such intervention cannot compensate.
Not worth the hassle, IMO.

how much oil goes in when replacing and what grade, I cannot find that information nowhere.

Thanks Munks, if i understood correctly he used 0.4l of 30W fork oil per shock absorber,  i don't know if the same grade should be used in XC500 because XC500 is heavier than XC250  but that is a start...

think it's more than 100ml per shock. there is a mark or something on the shock, you will fill it up to that mark i gues. that's what we did on mine and rides great
