Lost of power, then won't start
« on: July 11, 2011, 05:05:11 PM »
I got the super 8 4t. I got the 72cc big bore with the big bore head and a 22mm carb I have had this set up for about 1000 miles it was running great on the flats I was getting about 48 mph and had ton of power then the other day I was going down the street on a flat and the scooter started acting like it was going up a hill then I stopped at a light and it died. then it would start. Now this is the part I dont get it try's to start it just can seem to idle with out the starter helping it! I have and I have tried everything I even drained all the gas and got fresh gas, changed the oil, cleaned the carb, set the valves, clean and checked the spark plug, checked the compression!!!  Everything is fine I have no idea where to look and/or test anyone have any ideas?

My Agility 50 was hard to start, would not idle, had to twist the throttle at lights etc or it would cut out, and felt down on power. I finally traced it back to the intake manifold, the black right angled tube coming from the carb into the engine. I had overtightened the jubilee clip and I had cut into the end of the manifold and burst it so it was leaking and this gave me my problems.

May be worth taking it out checking yours is ok? Mine was split on the bottom so I could not see it until I removed it. I did a temp repair on it and it now idles fine and power is back. New manifold is arriving today so will fit it tonight hopefully.
Chaos is my co-pilot.
