Flat battery - help!!!

After 2 weeks away on a business trip i've come back to find a flat battery.

On trying to start the bike I see a red battery in the dial and there doesn't seem to be enough juice to get it going.

I have no breakdown cover- any ideas? Help!

Is there a reason why you would not want to try charging the battery and start troubleshooting from there?

No battery charger, no car and to be honest I don't even know how to access the battery on the bike

to get to the battery remove the rear seat and tub. Unfortunately there are no easy access terminals so you will end up having to open the battery box as well.

Other option is to get one of those jumpers that work through the power port to charge the battery but you would have to leave the ignition on and the fuse for the power port may actually blow trying to pump that much power through it.

Some day I want to pull the battery and add a power port under the seat so that I can just do a jump or easy charge from there..........

Thanks for the advice.

I've now pushed the bike 500m to a local small scooter shop who are taking it apart at the moment. Not sure how much this will cost but panic over!!

The local scooter shop charged the battery for me and charged 25 quid including getting to it an putting everything back in place.

Not a bad price and a lot less than my old Honda dealer would have charged me for anything.

A few quid more would have bought you a brand new battery here.
You should probably find out how the battery drained in the first place, it should be able to
hold it's charge for years.

Make sure you close the under-seat storage properly, the seat clicks in TWO PLACES, and the
"MET IN" indication on the dash-board will light up if you don't close it properly.

It's a bit finicky, you have to press hard on both sides of the passenger seat.

I think it was the seat - at least I hope it was. I'm going to make sure the seat is shut all time and see how it goes.

Well, for 25 pounds you can buy a good trickle charger...

If the light is on on the dash, the seat is not latched on the right side. This keeps the light under the seat on and will run the battery down in no time.
