Fuel getting into crankcase.
« on: August 07, 2011, 01:15:02 AM »
I have an Agility 125. I parked it in my shop for about a week and noticed fuel on the shop floor that had come from the air box. On inspection, fuel had soaked the air filter. When I cranked the engine, it went into hydrolic lock indicating fuel in the cylinder. The oil level was also over full. My question: Is there a valve that keeps the fuel from flowing to the carb when the engine is not running?

AFAIK, no, because it takes pressure to suck the fuel towards the carb.

Check the carb, especially the float.

Yes there is, the float valve. I have had the same problem on one of mine. use a cleaner such as gum out in the gas. Fixed mine!

Thanks for the reply. I'll check the float valve in the carb. Second question, There is an automatic petcock that the gas line from the fuel tank goes into, then the fuel line proceeds to the carb. There is an vacuum line from the cyclinder head to this valve also. Does anyone know the function of this line?

It is to stop the fuel flow when the engin is not running. This is what I thought was wrong with mine and I purchased a new one and found it made no difference. Gum out fixed mine.
