Question about head gasket on Super 9

Why is the head gasket marked UP on one side when it can be turned every possible way and still fitt perfektly ? I cant see any god reason. What is it I dont understand ?

When it's new there is actually a "pre formed ring/hump" on one side of the gasket. Seals it better that way??????????? IDK...lol

Yes i know there is a ring when it`s new, but screwed on between the sylinder and top, it becomes flat. I have seen aftermarked gaskets that fitts Super9, and they dont have the same marking. They dont have  any marking at all. It`s not a problem really, but that marking just made me wonder.
