Kymco people s 125 crankshaft.. Urgent help needed
« on: August 22, 2011, 11:07:26 PM »
Hi all,  :)

Currently I am disassembling my kymco 125 engine as it has a strange noise (found oil level low)  :( and thinking it might be the crankshaft bearing (shell).

Can the bearing be changed separately or I have to buy a complete new crank?
Where is the best place to buy parts cheap, I live in Malta Europe (near Sicily)

Thanks any help appreciated.  :D

G'day kymcop125, this is not much help to you but, I don't think they used shell bearings on these engines, I believe they are roller bearings. You can get them rebuilt, but it is a specialist job, certainly not something I would try at home. I don't know about the 125 engines, but for the smaller 50cc engines you can find crankshafts from various aftermarket companies, I bought mine from an ebay seller who goes by the name autotech355, also uses Dr.pulley886 as another user name.
Have a look around, if you can find one it will be a lot cheaper than genuine.

Are you sure the noise is from the crankshaft? It would be easier to check the top end first, and cheaper.

Hi kymcop, can you describe the noise? there are plenty of other reasons for rattles etc.
