Need some help troubleshooting a start issue
« on: August 23, 2011, 04:29:05 PM »
This problem has been consistent on my scooter since I bought it and the original dealer was of no help.  I am going to ask Sportique about it, but thought you all might be able to help as well.

After a long ride, say 8.5 miles from my office back to home in the evening, I park the scooter in the garage, where it sits overnight.  The next morning, I start it, it runs for about 5 seconds, stalls, and then will not start.  I have to get to work, so I either drive or take the other scooter.  When I return home in the evening, the scooter starts right up.  I know I am getting a spark (pulled the plug wire and confirmed this).  What I am not sure of is if any gas is getting to the engine.  Almost acting like a lot of vapor is in the line or something.  Any ideas?  I know this isn't normal, because my wife's scooter (same year/ model) fires right up.

Any help is appreciated.  2009 People 50 2 stroke.

TY.

I had similar issues when I first got my used people 50 . I installed an NGK iridium plug and started using non-ethanol gas with 1oz. per gal. of seafoam gas additive . I also started using amsoil interceptor 2 stroke oil for injector engines . I don't know if all of these measures made the difference but I have been trouble free since . I will say that the iridium plug made an immediate improvement , but the original plug may have been failing . Good luck .

I'll try the plug first and see if that works.  I assume I can pick up the NGK at any local parts store?

try to remove sparkplug and add in cylinder ( where the sparkplug was ) hole little bit of gasoil, screw plug back and try to start.
This will show if problem is in the fuel line.

Also its not bad idea to cleanup carb, in youtube you will find millions of videos how to do it.

And problem more sound like your fuel mixture is not set correctly, but try those things first ;)
