For the in depth review of the 300GTi.
Your observations are on par with what I was expecting.
I also agree that the retail price is too much. $4800. would be good for a scoot that is struggling for name recognition.
People in my area are familiar with the big three, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Honda.
Then comes Piaggio, Aprilia, Vespa, not as familiar.
When I mention Sym, Kymco, Genuine, etc, most are not familiar with these at all.
I`m sure this will be a concern when it comes time to sell the lesser known scoots.
IMHO, if Kymco is smart enough to get scoots like the Downtown and GT300i in the hands of new owners, combined with good dealer support, Kymco will end up with a bigger piece of the PIE!.
Yes, it has 28+ hp and is a 300. But a single disc up front is a concern considering weight and power.
Good pads, a bleed, and a steel braided line might be in order.
As for lag time, some variator tweaking might be in order after warranty runs out.
Even with its shortcomings, I plan to visit my local dealer soon to see if they have one on the show room floor so customers can fondle it.
I rode the Piaggio BV 250 and the Aprilia Sportcity 250 last summer.
If the Kymco People GTi300 out performs these motorscooters, then it would have to be super fine.
Probably the best combination of power to weight ratio.
The thing i`m missing is a real seat of the pants experience.
