« on: August 29, 2011, 09:53:22 AM »
Ok guys I had issues with my water pump on my 05 s9 lc
It was making noise and weeping not alot of coolant loss so I tore it apart
Changed the bearings and mechanical seal  and itstarted making noise and weeping almost immediately
What else could be bad ?

What ups mudfreek?
Weeping? do you mean seeping coolant out?.. Did you replace that gasket there? I know mine leaked there also, had to seal her up good with some rvt silicone.
Did you get the bearings/seal ALL the way in their spot? can you turn it by hand? not a free spin by any means. :D
Are you sure it's the W.P.? Make sure the "overflow" hole is open also.
Could something have gotten in behind the flywheel? even a grain of dirt
Did you happen to wiggle your crank any to see if any "play" is present on the crank bearing?

Overflow hole not sure where that is and as Tara as the crank the entire engine is supposed to be new and I'm afraid to sal up the weep hole in the water pumpim not losing alot of coolant

It's a tiny hole in the outside front of the pump cover.
Eventually it may be more than a seep" if not corrected..

the tiny hole in the botom of the outside cover is where the coolant is coming from with the old bearings in the pump i had some play and once i installed the new ones i noticed there was some play i checked for play on the crank but im not sure about the hex style reciever that screws in to the fly wheel/magneeto   the pump isnt as loud as it was before and it leaks about the same i have lost about an oz of coolant in a week im just baffled as to what might be wrong with the bike

If it's leaking from that hole, i THINK there is an issue with the mechanical seal in there

Oh yeah, that hex style nut has nrmal threads on it. The hex is for the impeller shaft to rest in. Should be good and tight..
