Love my GrandVista
« on: August 30, 2011, 06:42:37 PM »
Have about 200 miles on it now. Cruises at 60 real nice on the highway.

I live in the country , the nearest town is 30 miles away.

Saves me a ton of gas money. Can fit 3 bags of groceries under the seat.

I have a 30 inch inseam and can flatfoot it easy.

Bike is light and easy to maneuver.

Windshield is too short for me , I ordered a Givi 290ST WindScreen.

Love parking  it close to store entrance.

Howdy & welcome to the group.

Information that other owners like to know:
  Where are you located ?
What color is your GV250 ?
How long have you been riding ?
  Any previous scooter experience ?

Scoot safely & wear your safety gear.

It sounds like you are doing well.
Glad you have safety gear..
How about boots? Much more protection for the feet and ankles than shoes.

My GV is red also.
Two cautions:
#1  The UV coating on the windscreen is sensitive to anything but neutral pH solutions.
So, use plain water or a neutral detergent.  Water with  Grapefruit"flavored" detergent peeled mine off.

#2.  The tires are small so be sure to check the air pressure monthly.

And always,  scoot safely,

I sent GIVI an email about what to use on their windshields. They said plain water to clean and NuFinish polish. They said especially not to use Rain-X (rats!) because it will turn the screen yellow...

A thin coat of NuFinish woks really good on mine. I ride in a lot of rain and it blows off well. Givi wind screen on a DT300I.

600 miles on scooter now all maintenance up to date.

Drove in 30 mph winds today , luckily the road i was on was only 45 mph.

It handled the wind fine i thought , even with a Tall Givi windscreen installed.

The winds were a crosswind so it was pushing me side to side some but not anything scary.

MPG has been right around 60.

@Catman & Racewalker

Is the NuFinish you are using is the car polish or as they call the "Once a year" car Polish?

800 miles on the scoot now.

She is really starting to break in nice , acceleration to 60 is much quicker. I find myself speeding a lot of times.

The Iridium plug makes it a nice cold starting bike. Pops right off when cold.

Also the idle vibration when cold has gone way down , before it would shake my fillings loose!

Doug, the great mpg is off set by the numerous trips you will take just to enjoy the riding experience.  A short trip to pick up a couple groceries can easily turn into a 100 mile ride taking the long way home.  It is an addiction and I don't think there is a twelve step program that will help.  "My name is Bob and Iam a scooteraholic".

Gas Mileage:
Remember that this is a heavy vehicle compared to a 50cc scooter.
And the power is coupled through the CVT & belt which is less efficient than a manual transmission and chain drive.

The VTR250 motorcycle that my DH rides gets about 60 mpg also.  His 650 Nighthawk gets 55 mpg.
So, who can figure ?   I think that he rides them much differently !
It must be in the setup and the hand on the throttle.

Scoot Safely,
