seat problem on the Downtown 300i

Oh, and I like the foot rests better. Wouldn't feel like your in stirrups ready to give birth.

It should be noted in doing this you also, when seated rearward, are pressing the foam into the seat bucket further than designed. If you have a helmet or any other cargo you are then pressing the seat foam into it. In the same vein an aftermarket seat may have a modded tub design possibly restricting further the capacity.

With the seat broken in I find normal seating my feet are 1-2" from the front edge.....................

Good point. I think for me, I'd be willing to try it out if I could find a distributor. I think a seat with out the hump underneath like ours would suit me better, even if the helmet doesn't fit. I usually stuff my body armor, coat, pants, under the seat, and the helmet I hang on the helmet lock. Plus it would give me an excuse to buy some topside storage.

I have never ridden with a helmet under the seat.  I guess a spare passenger (open face) would fit up front while riding, if not I would place it in the top box.

Riding with a passenger, storage stuff goes under the seat and/or trunk and helmets are on the stub.

I went to check out the 300i last weekend. I'm 5'7" with a 30 inch inseam. That bike was to small for me by at least an inch. I was really looking forward to purchasing one. No way, I'd be to cramped. On the other hand the Xciting 250Ri fits perfect. It may not have the horsepower of the 300i but it is overbuilt in every other way, which for me is a big plus. They are also $1500.00 less here in the SE U.S.

Actually as the seat breaks in it will give you that 1 inch. I'll agree 4" would be sorely welcome..........

I am 6' 2" and have no problem with room in fact I am planning a 6000 K trip next June with it. I am just adding an air cushion to the seat to handle the 8 hours of riding each day.

If anyone's looking for a tall factory seat for the Downtown 300i, my dealer has one new in box. This is the seat that comes with the bike in overseas markets. It raises the seat hump at the front enough to accommodate a second helmet. It may help someone who is longer of inseam. The store is Rideaway Motors in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Gary is the owner. He is closing his store, so he's clearing out his inventory.

I am of short inseam, but I purchased the same seat to increase my underseat storage and make it easier to see the gauges from a higher perch.

I also have my original seat available if someone wants it use it as a seat pan for a custom seat design.

My seat is at the shop being re modified, I took the fabric off and added 3” foam to the seating area, and it felt great, it gave me the room I needed, I also had the butt stop moved back 4”. So I can’t wait to get it back to see how it feels, what I did was a test, and then took it to a upholstery shop to fix it.

Ok. I did not explain myself correctly in reference to the seat/leg room on the 2012 Downtown 300i. My problem is not so much with the comfort of the seat as with the lack of leg room it gives the rider. My knees are about two inches from the handle bars. The seat does not allow you any room to stretch out your legs. An additional four inches would really accommodate a 'long legged rider'.  The rider that spoke about the seat 'breaking in' thanks for the tip. I want to enjoy my ride in comfort.
Does anyone know if the seat on the 2011 and the 2012 is the same?

2 inches?
I find that to be plenty on scooters. Most give me much less.
Unless an Asian, or smaller European --- that's the best we're going to get in the States.

I added a foam pad atop the front (lower) section of the seat and that helped a lot.
