how to replace coil/spark plug wire on cobra 50 racer
« on: September 20, 2011, 12:22:34 AM »
Hi, My cobra 50 died while I was driving it, and wouldn't start thereafter. It seemed like an electrical problem, so I changed the spark plug. But that didn't help, so I am going to try changing the spark plug wire/coil. Can someone describe how to remove the old part and install the new one? I traced the spark plug wire until the point where it goes into the frame, but cannot find it on the other side.

Also, Kymco describes the piece of the spark wire that goes over the spark plug as  a "cap noise suppressor" ? Does that sound right?

Thanks for your responses.

It's very simple.. Where the plug is on the engine, Trace the wire back. It is mounted on the side of the frame with one single 8mm bolt under the side panel. When you seen the wire stop at the frame, that little black thing with 2 plug ins was it..With the seat/box removed you should see it. Just unplug and replace.. I havent tried changing JUST the wire. Coils are cheaply found...
I just calll it a spark plug boot....
Hope this helps.....
