ERmax High Protection windscreen
« on: September 29, 2011, 02:35:15 AM »
Started in the UK thread, I believe this product deserves it's own thread!
http://www.same-same.fr/windshield-hight-protect-10cm-dink-street-downtown-20092011-p-683.html

It's not as tall as the Givi screen and therefore might have better forward vision.
Though not as wide as the Givi and will have less hand protection.
(Hand protection is important to me, since my hands go numb easily due to meds I use.)

Anyone has this screen installed and is willing  to share his experience?

For hand protection I use the Acerbis hand guards, so far I haven't notice any difference but somehow we are hitting 27C/80F degrees here in London(UK), will have to wait until the winter kicks in to be able to test them, however when raining they definitely help to keep my gloves dry longer.

They are really easy to install and give the scooter a nice look, especially during the night with the leds on.

Hi Jaun
Have you fitted these to your Downtown 300i? How do they fit onto the grips?

Hi Frank,

Yes I  have, you install them on top of the bar ends if it makes sense, so nothing comes off, for the right hand grip you need a longer screw a M8 7cm long, for the left one you can re-use the screw, you have to take your time positioning them to make sure that they cut propeprly the air and also that it does not clash with the windscreen. as per link http://www.westfieldfasteners.co.uk/A2_ScrewBolt_SHBtn_M8.html

I will try to take a picture in a while so you get a better idea of how they look on the bike.

personally I'd rather have the wind catch against the wind screen not the handle bars. I've never tried these out but where severe cross winds come to play and I can feel them hit me hard I would suspect they also would play with the hand grips with something like this mounted to them. Maybe I'm wrong and there is no issue but it would be a mental thing for me...............

I agree and as far as extra lights by your hands, I have rewired the turn signal leds to be on all the time. No batteries required. I had purchased a couple of units to do this but burned out two sets so decided to do my own. 2 automotive relays using the normally closed contacts to feed 12 volt to the leds and the turn signal feed wire to the coil of the relay. This switches leds on and off for signals. Makes better visibility at night. Seems I am in the dark all the time now. :)

Also there is one with hand protection but not as much as the givi.............
I'm a bit confused from that site.
With or without hand protection is the same price.
and as per the www.ermax.fr site, there is no hand protection screen... ???

As per the pic's there is a bend where the hands are to direct more air outwards. t doesn't seem to also protrude out further like the Givi. So while the bend is there pushing air out it does not do as well. So far with good gloves I have not had an issu with the stock wind screen.

I would like a bit more height though. That 10cm or apr 4" would do me just about right I think. Then again maybe the Givi isn't as large as it looks. The taller screen should also reduce wind noise too.

Ok, reread your post and I get it now. Where did you mount the relays  ???

Which wiring, the HID's or the mirror leds or both?

Are these really $95.00 (Ninty five us dollars)?  That seems awfully expensive.
