Windshield
« on: October 03, 2011, 05:31:58 PM »
Our Yager windshield is just about useless, tho it does look good.  The weather is turning chilly and I'm starting to feel it.  My Joe Rocket armored jacket does a nice job right now and lowering my shield also helps a little.  But it is not yet really cold outside.  So I am hoping that someone has found the windshield that will give good protection including my hands.  I looked at the Kymco site but that was a waste of time.  All suggestions appreciated.  Thanks.

hi, i just installed a givi shield on my yeager . price was $ 180 . installion was ok . of course givi makes shields for very tall people . it was late so no tesr ride as yet . it says on shield not to exceed 100 kms ( 62 mpr ) and lower speed in high winds. i'm sure i will cut down 3 or 4 ins. time wil tell . fit is top knotch and clears turn signals and seems to give hand coverage as well . i guess thats it . it was made for a dink 200 . see yae iker

well, here is next day results on the givi windshield i installed yesterday. with a slight head wind top speed was 55-58and going the other way speed was 58-61. so it seems i lost a lot of top speed . tach was beteen 7000-7200.before big screen it was no problem to go 8000 rpm and 64-66. its very quiet behind screen and no wind on hands. but its way too high. i'll ride it this for a while and then cut it down, about 4 ins. at least .thats it for now,ike

Put a Givi windscreen on my wifes Yeager yesterday and took it out for a ride. With a head wind I too think we lost about 5 MPH or so with a tail wind I could still hit around 70.  It does really seem to effect top end on this scooter. It does however block the wind very well and I think my wife will like it. I was planing on cutting it down but its really not that bad to look through it and I think we'll just leave it as is for the time being.

Bump this old thread . . .

Did you guys cut down that windshield ?

How did it work out ?

I'm probably going to get the same one.

I found this eBay vendor. Not my first choice, but I haven't looked up a US distributor yet:

http://www.ebay.it/itm/PARABREZZA-PARAVENTO-FACO-22676-KYMCO-DINK-50-125-200-i-EURO3-/200824065805

EDIT: it looks like ScooterWorks resells FACO parts, maybe they can get some imported?

Man it's a pain that these are hard to find in the US.

I've heard of at least one person making his own.  The basic idea isn't hard.

But beyond the basics, air flow dynamics (shape / curves) would probably be tricky.
Maybe trying to make my own by copying a proven design.

Really, I'd rather just buy it. But necessity is the mother of invention.
