out of storage, cvt not engaging
« on: October 09, 2011, 02:45:55 AM »
Hi all,

I wanted to put my 200 back on the road after storing it for a few months. I got it to start no problem but the transmission is not engaging. When I twist the throttle the bike wants to stall. I noticed a lot of rust on the bike. Might this be related? like a seized part or something. all input is appriciated. Thanks

You are going to have to open up the transmission and have a look.
Why is there a lot of rust?  Was the scooter parked in damp conditions?
It may be your carburetor has gunked up after a few months and is starving for fuel.
It may just seem like a CVT issue.

Your centrifugal clutch needs to expand against the springs in order to engage.  It is probably stuck together with rust.  Open up the CVT case and tap it with a leather/acrylic/wooden/rubber mallet to separate the pieces and then try it again.
