Downtown clutch experience
« on: October 28, 2011, 10:37:28 AM »
Has anyone here got any issues with the clutch?
My Downtown started to make some noises from the CVT area at very low speed when in traffic or when pulling off the lights. I was advised to sand off the clutch shoes apparently the clutch was not able to bite properly and it was causing it slip. It definitely improves the bite and the noises disappeared for a while :(. I will have to invest on a Dr. Pulley HiT clutch they seem to have excellent reviews.

I have checked on the Spanish forums and it seems to be a common problem over there but I haven’t heard anyone here with this issue, they also talk about some uncomfortable vibration between 3,000 to 4,000 revs, I get these vibrations but not as bad as they describe it.

Do you guys feel the same smoothness at high and low revs?

I get the same noise when I WOT from a stop.  Kinda sounds like a belt slipping.

I have noticed a vibration but I put it down to hiring a SYM 125 Evo on holiday which was super smooth and then jumping back on the beast. I suppose its a small price to pay for such a good scoot but if it can be cured better still.
