Transmission "Burned Out" ? Will a race Variator Help?
« on: November 15, 2011, 04:09:12 PM »
Hi ya, long time lurker, 1st time poster. I've got a People 50 2T and I've got awful speed up hills. We're talking 5-10mph. I weigh abt 180lbs. On flats, I've got 35-40mph. It rides REALLY nice there. The mechanic that last looked at my bike said the transmission is damaged, or burned out. I would Imagine the previous owner was over rev'ing with the brakes on. In any case I can't seem to find any info on how to fix this or mitigate it. Would changing the variator work at all or am I off base and is this just something I'm going to have to live with or replace the engine? Any help on this matter would be awesome! Thanks all.

So you are saying that I just need to purchase 3 of this one part to get back to normal? What is the weight clutch? What does it do? Sorry for the questions, I just would like to know what I'm doing before I do it? Is there something better, an upgrade that I could make for this part since I'm replacing it anyway? Lastly, why do you think thats the culprate? THANKS!

Use the link I provided to stadium yamaha to see a parts diagram . The clutch weights have new clutch pads , they are the typical wear items . IDK about aftermarket parts , you are on your own there . Good luck .
